Unit IV Online Issue Critique
Visit the site http://www.whitehouse.gov/.
Go to the “Issues” tab, and select an issue to write about. You will notice a
broad range. Once you select the issue to write about, answer the following
questions:
1. Summarize the main points of the issue you chose.
2. What initiatives and acts are put in place from the
government to help resolve the issue?
3. Focus on one initiative or act that was put in place, and
describe problems you see with
implementation of the solution.
Begin with an introduction that defines the subject of your
critique and your point of view. Defend your point of view by raising specific
issues or aspects of the argument. Conclude your critique by summarizing your
argument and reemphasizing your opinion.
? You will first need to identify and explain the author's
ideas. Include specific passages that support your
description of the author's point of view. (Remember to cite
and reference your sources.)
? Offer your own opinion. Explain what you think about the
argument. Describe several points with which
you agree or disagree.
? For each of the points you mention, include specific
passages from the text (you may summarize, quote,
or paraphrase) that provide evidence for your point of view.
(Remember to cite and reference your
sources.)
? Explain how the passages support your opinion.
Write an essay that is at least 300 words in length, fully
elaborating on each of the three questions. Appropriate APA format is required,
