An interesting NY Times piece that came out earlier this year, dealing with the role of social media and terrorism. The gist of the article is that, for the sake of law enforcement and intelligence efforts, technology companies must do more to deter terrorists from using technology to recruit, fundraiser, and otherwise proloiferate their ideaology. . Part of this debate calls again for back doors into existing encryption technologies.
When thinking on these issues, what responsibilities do you feel that tech companies have in this fight? Is the sacrifice to privacy worth the trade off in security (if it would help at all?)
